Welcome

Federation for Indian Arts (FIA) is a not for profit organisation to promote the performing arts of the Indian Subcontinent in the UK through contemporary productions, heritage, workshops and multimedia projects. FIA encourages and supports practitioners to draw upon the rich cultures of India to create work in classical, traditional and contemporary sectors.

FIA organises Dakshinayan, a music school which is affiliated to Dakshinee, the renowned Tagore music and culture school in Kolkata. Dakshinayan is based at the Marylebone Dance Studios in London and its students are mainly second generation Bengalis.

FIA is spearheaded by Dr. Ananda Gupta, who has been working with international South Asian performing artists for the last 20 years, organising high level performances in the UK and India. Productions of FIA have been enthusiastically received by Indian, British-Indian and mainstream UK audiences at such venues as the British Museum, V & A, Horniman and the Nehru Centre.
